Choose the correct Cook County criminal record route

Cook County criminal records can refer to Cook County, Illinois or Cook County, Georgia. Confirm the state before requesting records. The Georgia Clerk of Superior Court handles the Georgia route and can be reached at 229-896-7717. Illinois and Georgia records use different custodians.

Cook County Illinois online access and limits

Do not treat Cook County Illinois criminal access as an unrestricted public guest criminal search. The Clerk identifies Criminal CCCPortal for Illinois registered attorneys. When online access does not provide the needed record path, use the Clerk's criminal record routes or courthouse public access options.

Online case information should be interpreted as an electronic docket resource rather than the official court record. Docket summaries and case information may not reflect the newest filings or events immediately; recent activity may take several days to appear. When recent events or documents are not available online, use courthouse Public Access Terminals or the appropriate Clerk record route.

Chicago and suburban criminal record routing

Chicago misdemeanor and preliminary felony records route through the Criminal Department at Daley Center Room 1006. Certified disposition requests require defendant name, date of birth and arrest date. Suburban requests go to the relevant district. Chicago felony-trial records route through the Criminal Division at Leighton Criminal Courthouse Room 526, while suburban felony records remain with the district hearing the case.

Copies, certifications and fees

For copies, use the Clerk request form. Requests identify the case number, division or district, parties, dates, search years, documents requested and whether regular or certified copies are needed. Mail the request to the relevant office. The initial search fee is $6 and additional charges are provided after review. Self-search terminals/files avoid the search fee.

The criminal fee schedule lists disposition certification with seal at $6, searches at $6 per year, document reproduction at $2 for the first page, $0.50 for pages 2-20 and $0.25 for pages over 20. CCG0026 and fee schedules use slightly different page ranges, so confirm the applicable charge for the requested copy. Archive transfers may require 2-10 days when retained.
